Boat Construction

High speed charter boat

12 metre aluminium high speed tourist charter boat
for Bressa Boats. Twin water jet propulsion.

BOAT BUILDING IN SHETLAND the workforce commenced aluminium commercial boat construction in 1986 with the production of the "Voe Boat" range of aluminium work boats. The resultant craft is a heavy duty workhorse which can be used in a variety of applications, with different powering options from outboard propulsion to inboard engines with conventional propellers, stern drives and water jets.

Clients include the oil industry, The National Rivers Authority, port authorities, civil engineering contractors, fisheries boards and salvage companies. Orders delivered include, two twenty-passenger, ship-to-shore craft for a luxury cruise ship. These 8.5 metre craft are powered by twin water jets and were designed, constructed and delivered in four months to a very tight schedule. The boats have now seen service in Norway, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.

Islands Council, twin water jet propulsion

"Voe Boats" are sold world wide and include a 34 knot, 10 metre high-speed survey boat in the Caspian Sea, offshore personnel carriers in Angola and the Gulf of Arabia, and fish farm vessels in Kuwait, Madeira and Greece. The largest vessels constructed include a 12 metre fish farm craft and 11.75 metre tourist boat, both built for Shetland owners, and total production now runs into several hundred craft.

In addition to the aluminium craft, steel boat construction is also undertaken. The first steel fish farm workboat constructed was a 12.8 metre fish farm workboat. Since then well boats, fishing vessels and catamarans have been added to the range.
